AMPERS&ONE are Redefining Who They Are

After eight months, AMPERS&ONE is officially back with their latest mini album, DEFINITION. This album is redefining who the group is with six tracks. The group members Kamden and Mackiah are credited for contributing lyrics to every track on the album. This marks a new chapter for the group and shows who they strive to be in the future. https://www.youtube.com/watch?si=yJ2SJCit4BDVJLjZ&v=wRZ1MdBoUq0&feature=youtu.be Track 1: Hit Me Up “Hit Me Up” is the opening track of the album, beginning with a catchy opening: “Man, they’re all up in my DMs again / Tryna say some smack about me / Listen, look.” The track’s main message centers around wanting to be contacted despite the challenges of communication with modern technology, or in other words, “call me up.” Compared to their other high-energy tracks, “Hit Me Up” changes pace, being more emotional and personal. Track 2: GOD The title track, “GOD,” showcases a unique concept combining Korean culture with modern hip-hop, which is deemed “Joseon dynasty hip-hop,” blending the trap beats with traditional Korean instrumentals. The title name creates a double meaning with a wordplay with the Korean word “gat,” which is a traditional hat that was worn during the Joseon dynasty. The choreography also incorporates traditional Korean dance. The song signifies gaining strength and overcoming hardships, and serves as a promise to protect one another. Listen to the album while you read about the tracks! Track 3: What You Talking About The third  track, “What You Talking About,” tells the story of the group’s confidence and their own path with a fierce demeanor. Even if they aren’t perfect to others, they are bound to stay true to the group’s identity and will ignore the haters’ opinions. One standout lyric from the refrain tells the haters, “Stop talking, how you be using your tongue? / Start again from baby babbling, learn to walk again every day, no speaking ’til you hush.”  Track 4: My Way The fourth track, “My Way,” is another track about the group’s route to being themselves with a dance vibe sound. They wish to embrace the growth and confidence they have gained and pave a path with it. They emphasize this message by continuously repeating “Going my way” throughout the entire song, showing their determination to be themselves. https://youtu.be/94qSkxwhYNY?si=xu-UYQdw_2mZhpD9 Track 5: All Eyes On You The fifth track, “All Eyes On You,” focuses on the person they love, making promises that they’re the one they want for life and that they will stay. This track gives the perfect summer vibe with an energetic track and a heartfelt message. Track 6: Tears In Your Smile The final track in the album, “Tears In Your Smile,” is one of the most emotional and vulnerable tracks in the EP. The message of the track is about the emotions hidden behind a mask and having to open up to others about them. This track gives a comforting message to a feeling that everyone can relate to. One line that truly stands out is: “잠시 멈춰도 돼 / 상관없잖아 / 솔직해져도 돼 / 너를 위해서.” When translated to English, it means: “You can pause for a moment / It doesn’t matter / You can be honest / For your own sake.” Everyone needs that moment to breathe, and this song brings the needed comfort to the listener. Overall, the album showcases AMPERS&ONE’s growth and their new sides. Continuing their steady trajectory, the group is set to embark on a tour titled ‘Born to Define’ in May.
